Staring at the skies
I can see the ever shining future
Of a fledging nation roaming free
Standing in the centre of the earth
The party's full and everyone's scared
Of secrets waiting to be told
Though the Sun may not guide us always
We're a nation full of dreamers
The moon's rays will help us in our ways
We will walk amidst the mist of uncertainties
Though tongues and lands apart
We all share the same blood that never dries
(Beating the same heart that never dies)
And I can surely face the waking day
With all their bullets piercing my heart and soul
I can lay knowing my death is not in vain
I can see the ever shining future
Of a fledging nation roaming free
Standing in the centre of the earth
The party's full and everyone's scared
Of secrets waiting to be told
Though the Sun may not guide us always
We're a nation full of dreamers
The moon's rays will help us in our ways
We will walk amidst the mist of uncertainties
Though tongues and lands apart
We all share the same blood that never dries
(Beating the same heart that never dies)
And I can surely face the waking day
With all their bullets piercing my heart and soul
I can lay knowing my death is not in vain
(Rizal (seated) shared a deep friendship with painter Juan Luna and often agreed to pose for Luna's paintings as in 'The Death of Cleopatra. In the foreground is Rizal as Egyptian scribe, recording the event for posterity...)
